For pupils in primary school, English can sometimes feel like a impossible hurdle to overcome. Words can seem complicated and creative writing feels like a whole world of unknown.
At a primary level, I prioritise making learning engaging through both practical and enjoyable activities, as well as through ensuring the foundations of learning are secure. Whether that’s through tackling fronted adverbials, or playing snap to remember tricky words, I can help and support with primary English.
Secondary
Has the step up to secondary felt overwhelming? Do you feel like you need a confidence boost?
For pupils in KS3, secondary school can feel like a big jump to make from primary. From the introduction of Shakespeare to the new challenges of writing, English can become daunting.
At a secondary level, I prioritise solidifying the foundations of English and boosting confidence in new learning. Whether that’s through revisiting similes and metaphors, or through having fun re-enacting Shakespeare, I can help and support pupils in finding confidence in secondary school English.
11+
Is verbal reasoning not feeling very reasonable? Do 11+ questions have you feeling confused and puzzled?
For pupils approaching the 11+, it can feel very daunting taking a test that determines the next steps and future school. Pair this with the unfamiliar questions of the 11+ exam, and pupils can easily feel overwhelmed.
For the 11+, I prioritise coverage and familiarity to ensure pupils go into the exams feeling as prepared as they can. I cover all four areas of the exam: English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning, and also provide exam style practice to help support pupils in feeling confident and prepared on the day.
GCSE
Does Shakespeare feel like a foreign language to you? Does the word GCSE make you feel anxious?
For pupils in KS4, upcoming GCSEs can feel truly terrifying. From trying to remember quotes for English Literature to understanding how to write a creative story for English language, exams can place a lot of pressure on pupils.
At a GCSE level, I prioritise confidence building and understanding of the exams. Whether that’s helping to break down the structure of an essay question, or using games for quote memorisation, I can help and support pupils in feeling confident and prepared for their upcoming GCSEs.

Proofreading can make a huge difference to the outcome of a piece of work, and therefore I offer proofreading services to ensure that your work is the best that it can be. Whether that’s spotting spelling errors and grammatical mistakes, or offering suggestions for rephrasing sentences and sections, I can help and support in improving your written work.
